Here is an update on my goals that I set at the beginning of the year. You can find the original post here. I plan on doing a check-in at the end of every quarter to update my progress for the goals I set at the beginning of the year.

Going Well

Health

I am on track for most of my goals. The Daylio so far I have tracked every day in 2021. Which is way better than I have done in past years when I tried to track my mood using the app. I have also hit 10,000 steps every day of 2021 except for 1 so far. I am crushing this goal and I am currently averaging about 12748 steps.

Personal

I am on track to complete the Book reading goal. I believe I will be able to complete this one. I did set the bar a little low though. Which I think is making this goal a little easier to clear.

Financial

Currently, both Financial goals are in a good place. I am more than a quarter of the way to completing them. Especially the house goal which I am almost a ⅓ of the way to completion. For the 30,000 down payment savings, I am striving to have 3,000

Need to Improve / Updates

Health

I have started to fall behind on the Water. For the water goal though I can only play catch up so much. Either way, I still think I would be happy with my progress for that goal as well if I average four out of seven days. I am still going to shoot for five though for now and see if I can focus more on this goal.

Personal

I have fallen behind on these blog posts but can catch up by posting more frequently. Out of all of the goals, this is the newest one for me to work on. I have never written a blog before and it is not easy to have something written weekly. Hopefully, as I continue to work on this muscle it will come easier. Even though I am behind I am hoping to get better at this one over time.

The Daylio tracking goal (while I am doing well with the tracking itself) the actual quality of my tracking is not great. Most of the tracking is identical from day to day. Some of that is due to COVID and the fact that most of my days are fairly similar. I think I could add more qualitative and quantitative details by adding new “activities” to the tool.

I have been making progress on updating the company data but not as much recently as I would have liked. I originally thought I set this goal to quarterly updates and hope I can release some updates to this data soon.

Financial

I do not think there is any need to improve the progress of my financial goals. I might be able to stretch them and make them a little bigger. I will keep them as is for now, but when I reflect on the second check-in I might update them to be a little more difficult.

Summary

Overall I am very happy with how my goals are going. I think it is helpful knowing that I planned to publicly write and share how I am progressing in my goals. It is motivating me to keep it up and push myself to make sure I do not forget to keep doing some of these goals. It is a short-term reminder to make sure I am not falling behind. In previous years I forget that I even set goals and months go by before I remember and at that point, I have fallen behind and not built the habits I need to accomplish them.

It does make me a little uncomfortable to share some of these goals because some of them can be a little personal but I think being uncomfortable is worth the trade off if it helps push me to accomplish more.
