Health Goals

These are goals focused on physical and mental health.

Goal 1 – Activity Rings

Close All Three Activity Rings on Apple Watch 300 times to improve physical health.

So far, so good with this goal. I am at around 28% completion, so I am on track to complete this goal. At least for one quarter, it looks like I set a reasonable amount for this goal. I am only slightly above 25%, so I am keeping pace. I do not believe I need to make any changes to the goal of closing all three rings, but I may want to increase the amount required to complete some of these rings. Right now, the goals are 660 calories of “Move”, 30 min of “Exercise”, and 12 hours of “Stand”. I believe increasing the “Move” and “Exercise” goals might help push me more. This is probably not something I will change this year, but I will decide at the end of Q2 if I need to stretch this goal a little more.

Goal 2 – Mood Tracking

Track mood in Daylio at least 300 times to improve mental health

This goal is the easiest to complete because I can go back and update a missed day if needed. There should be no reason for me to achieve this goal. The only change I think I might want to make is to force myself to add more details to each tracked day, but I believe that it would be hard to track “more details” as pass/fail each day using this tool, so I will probably not make any updates to this goal.

Goal 3 – Drink More Water

Drink Water 60 oz of water a day to improve health (5/7 days a week)

I am just barely keeping pace with this one. I want to be a little higher on the percent complete to give myself some cushion on this goal. I do not believe anything needs to change with this goal. It looks like so far, this goal was set reasonably, and I am keeping up with the percentage.

Personal Goals

These are personal self-improvement goals that are related to learning and expanding myself.

Goal 4: Read a Book, Dummy!

Read 4 Books to increase knowledge.

I have not finished a book this quarter, but this is a goal I think I can pretty quickly catch up on if needed. I am falling behind on this goal as I did last year. I can catch up by blocking off a day just for reading.

Goal 5: Blog Posts

Write 30 blog posts to improve the site.

I have fallen pretty far behind on this one. I need to block off time to focus on writing to try and catch up on this goal. I will probably not accomplish this goal based on how I am currently pacing.

Goal 6: “The Company” Data

Update “The Company” Data twice to enhance the data and keep it fresh.

I have released DEI data in Q1, so I only need to release one additional update/new data for “The Company” data. I am already working on a new dataset for that release, so I do not believe I need to make any changes to this goal. This should be an easy goal to accomplish this year.

Goal 7: Like and Subscribe! – Video Goal

Record 3 Videos to Improve the content on the Blog and about TheCompany Data

No updates for this goal yet, but I have two videos recorded already, and I need to work on the blog posts that go along with them. While I have no public updates yet, I believe I should be pretty far along with this goal in Q2/Q3.

Goal 8: Hacker Man – Coding Project

Build 1 Coding Project in Python or R to improve skills

This is another project with no updates, and I am not confident that I will do this goal this year. I might shift this goal to projects related to the tool called KNIME, which I am currently using to complete some ETL tools with HR systems. While it is not as technical, I think there is still similar value with this change. I might also be able to incorporate Python or R into KNIME, which would be great for this goal.

Financial Goals

Plan to write a lot more about Personal Finance. These are two personal goals that I have set for myself for this year.

Goal 9: Retirement Savings

Invest 15,000 in retirement savings to prepare for future retirement

This goal is set and forget at this point. One change I will probably make is to increase this goal total significantly. I am already at 1/3 of the $15,000 target. I do not believe I will accomplish Goal 10 (below), so I might shift more of my focus to retirement/investing goals for the rest of this year. This is something I will try and decide at the end of Q2.

Goal 10: Big Time Adulting – Buying Property

Buy property

While this goal is technically still possible, I do not think it makes sense with the market the way it is right now. I will probably wait another year to accomplish this goal. I might want to replace this goal with another finance goal at the end of Q2.
